La Legion: El juego de la Guerra de Africa

From 1907 to 1927 Spain fought in Morocco a long war, full of ups and downs, brilliant victories and crashing defeats that touched the Spanish society.
In 1909, after the disaster at the Ravine of the Wolf, the war became headline news at the same time as the "Tragic Week" in Barcelona. The Franco-Spanish treaty of 1912 gave Spain the zone of the Protectorate, that Spain started to occupy from Ceuta, Melilla and Larache.
In spite of the resistance of the Moroccan leaders El Raisuni and Abd-El-Krim, the troops of General Berenguer slowly conquered the rebel territories. In 1921, the General Silvestre suffers in Annual a crunching defeat where 13000 soldiers died and Melilla was left vulnerable to the enemy.
In 1925, General primo de Rivera disembarked in Alhucemas, defeated Abd-El-Krim and achieved the end of the Pacification of the Protectorate. In 1926 the war in Africa ended. (Translation from the back cover)
