Tanka card game MISOHITOSAJI 〈Teishoku〉( 短歌カードゲーム ミソヒトサジ〈定食〉)

User summary
ミソヒトサジ (Misohitosaji) is a Japanese poetry game, for Tanka poems. Tanka is a short Japanese poem consisting of 5 lines with a structure of 5-7-5-7-7 syllables.

The first edition was given a restaurant theme. The cook is a bear named Goro (ゴロー) and the waiter is a rabbit named Nanako (ナナコ). They appear in the second edition, also styled 短歌カードゲーム ミソヒトサジ〈定食〉 (Tanka card game MISOHITOSAJI 〈Teishoku〉), where Teishoku means “set meal”. The second edition enables solitaire play, whereas as the first edition rules are for 2-8 players.

This game enables you to easily craft Japanese Tanka poems. The game consists of cards with 5 syllable and 7 syllable words in Japanese. Mix and match the cards to create a Tanka poem following the 5-7-5-7-7 syllable structure.

There are six different ways to play, including “Utaichimonme" and "ku-meeting". In “Utaichimonme", players exchange cards in a manner similar to Poker in order to craft their poems. In “ku-meeting”, players collaborate to create a single Tanka poem.

In addition, the set contains 40 blank cards which you can use to write your own words to customize your game play. Because of the depth of Japanese text in the game, it would be unplayable without being able to read Japanese.
