The Optional rules are crammed packed with other rules that players can use to enhance their games of Forager, you will find rules for national characteristics for all the main players in the Napoleonic Wars, the United States, Canada and the Ottoman Empire. Rules for mounted characters, fighting duals, giving orders and character advancement to name a few.

The appendices contain lists and details of the 75 character traits as well as a quick play sheet and several scenarios for you to get to grips with. Finally, to get you started there are two sets of character cards, one French command and one British command. These commands allow you to that you can get straight into the game with.

The basics of the game are as follows:

Each force is called a command and is led by an officer/NCO and has several other soldiers, all being named characters.
