Yacht Race

Simple roll and move race game around a 60-space track, with a yachting theme. 12 of the 60 spaces offer bonuses or penalties. Unusually, each of the 4 players has his own path, parallel to each other, but separate.

The first version of the game Pre dates the National Games trademark. W. Owen of Ballarat manufactured the Yacht Race game under his name prior to continuing production under the National label. This appears to date the first version somewhere between the late 1890's to early 1900's. An advertisement is seen in 1902 for the game.

As with many of the National Games produced, the game over the years appeared in three general forms;
1. A large hardback board with a small separate box containing the playing pieces.
2. A small boxed version containing a thin carded board and pieces. This has the National Games Logo on the box
3. A large boxed version with a thin carded board (but larger in dimensions than the small box), playing pieces but no National Games Logo on the box

Another earlier version titled "National Yacht Race" was also produced by the National Game Company in 1912 but this game has 75 numbered spaces, a different layout and a different Registered number. It is therefore listed elsewhere.
